Spider World series by Colin Wilson

The Spider World series is a Science-Fiction series written by Collin Wilson, the series once only four books The Tower, The Delta The Magician and The Shadowland. The first novel The Tower got split in to three novels when published by Ace Books The Desert, The Fortress and The Tower. The Delta, The Magician and The Shadowland remain the same as when they were first published.

For full reasons I will list both series in there entirety's starting with the original four books.

Synopsis of The Tower by Colin Wilson

Once the Earth was ruled by man and insects were nothing but now in the after math of the comet humans serve giant Beetles as servants and the Death Spiders as slaves, except for those who live in the desert.
For Niall and his family, life is hard, but together they eke out an existence until the day Niall does what was said to be impossible: He kills a spider.
This act brings Niall to the attention of the Spider Lord. But as he finds himself deep within the hostile city of the spiders, Niall also meets allies and discovers that his special gift makes him useful the fight against the Death Spiders and gives him access to their city's greatest mystery: an impenetrable white tower and what he finds inside is the key that sets him on a journey to discovering the mystery of the Delta and of the very meaning of what it means to be human.

Synopsis of The Magician

The most obvious clues lead to a being Niall has only seen in a dream: The Magician.
In his quest to find the Magician, Niall makes shocking discoveries about both his own people and the rapidly evolving spiders, whose desire for peace forced them to conquer and forge an empire with the labor of human slaves.

As I mentioned before the first novel was split into three new shorter novels when the series were republished in america by Ace Books, the last three books The Delta, TheMagician and The Shadowland are the same in both series. The republished series now starts with The Desert.
